MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to provide learners of all ages a comprehensive resource for civics education and the roles our federal courts and employees play in the administration of justice.

Roles in the Court

Running the federal courts efficiently requires many people working in various roles. Chambers, clerks offices, and probation/pre-trial services units are all cogs in the wheel that is the court's mission. But, there are other professionals too. You may not see them in the courtroom, however, the services they provide are necessary to ensure proceedings go smoothly and cases advance through the system. Over a dozen court employees have agreed to discuss their roles on camera.

And the skills and knowledge of citizenship are not handed down through the gene pool, you have to learn them. And every generation has to learn them. And I think it's a classic example of this state's motto, which is Let It Be Perpetual. Do I have it right? Yeah, Let It Be Perpetual. So civics education needs to be perpetual, I'm afraid. And those who operate, those of us who operate in the judicial system, have a special obligation to help the public understand our role in the leadership system in our great democracy. And I'm always shocked with how little people know and understand anything about the third branch of government, the one where I worked.
